A maximum, not a promise

Manufacturers often measure maximum range in controlled conditions. Segway explicitly advertises the MAX G2’s 43-mile range at 10 mph. It does not mean you will travel 43 miles while riding at the advertised maximum speed.

What changes the result

Higher speed, hills, heavier loads, cold temperatures, headwinds, and low tire pressure can all reduce usable range. E-bike assistance mode and how much you pedal matter too.

Plan your actual trip

Measure your round trip, identify hills, and decide where you can charge safely. Choose a comfortable margin and check whether the manufacturer publishes its test conditions. Do not rely on an exact percentage reduction: real conditions vary too much for one universal rule.

Compare like with like

A range claim with no conditions is less useful than one with clear speed, rider load, and temperature information. Ask the seller for context and look for independent tests that resemble your route.

Battery care

Use only the correct manufacturer-approved charger. Follow the manual’s charging and storage instructions. Stop using a battery that is damaged, swollen, unusually hot, or has a new unusual smell; seek qualified service. Never open a battery pack to troubleshoot it yourself.
